Pension Abatement

Conference notes with concern the increasing trend whereby members are availing of ʻPension Abatementʼ. It is clear that this practice: ● Is detrimental to establishment levels. ● Is outwith best practice with regard to recruitment and selection procedures. ● Will undermine our ability to defend current retirement ages as outlined in the pension schemes applicable to Fire Service personnel. Therefore, Conference instructs the Executive Council to initiate a report to evaluate the continued merits of current policy, in the form of Resolution 83 from Annual Conference 2007. This report, including recommendations, to be made to Conference 2010.
