Cuba

Conference congratulates Cuba on the 50th anniversary of the revolution, and celebrates Cubaʼs many achievements domestically and internationally. These achievements must be applauded even more in the context of the disgraceful commercial, economic and financial blockade of Cuba by the USA since 1962, and its many other efforts to undermine Cuba, including literally hundreds of attempts to assassinate President Fidel Castro. This Conference notes that the new administration in the US Government is advocating change. Consequently, Conference agrees that the opportunity must be taken to demand that the US Government finally ends its illegal trade blockade of Cuba. The US Government must recognise that Cuba has the right to exist as an independent nation, and that the people of Cuba must be free to choose their own method of government, without duress or consequence from outside nations. Conference therefore calls upon the UK and devolved governments to make the necessary representations to the US Government, demanding they immediately end their illegal blockade of Cuba.
