Aerial Rescue Pumps In The Fire Service

Conference instructs the Executive Council to commission a report aimed at evaluating the introduction of Combined Aerial Rescue Pumps in Fire & Rescue Services. This report to consider ● The reliability of Combined Aerial Rescue Pumps in particular the availability of their high reach capability when in service. ● Appropriate crewing levels (minimum of six), as per CAST scenario modelling, to ensure the health & safety of members both when the appliance has dual function capability and on those occasions when it has been re-designated as a rescue pump due to a defective high reach capability. ● The suitability of these vehicles for use as rescue pumps and rescue platforms, particularly regarding access difficulties in urban areas. ● The effect if any on levels of pre-determined attendance as a consequence of the introduction of these vehicles. This report shall be utilised to inform the Executive Council approach to negotiating an agreed national policy on the introduction and use of these vehicles with our national employers as soon as practicably possible.
