'A tragedy that must never be repeated' - the death of Stephen Hunt

On 13 July 2013 at a fire in Oldham Street, Manchester firefighter Stephen Hunt lost his life in the line of duty whilst fighting a fire. A report recently published by the Fire Brigades Union demands that lessons be learned from this incident to prevent future tragedies occuring. The FBU report makes a number of safety critical recommendations and has been sent to various stakeholders in the fire and rescue service.

In this video update, FBU executive council member for the north west Kevin Brown outlines what the findings of the report are and the FBU General Secretary Matt Wrack explains how the union will be working to ensure that all fire and rescue services, across the UK, implement the recommendations.
