CIRCULAR NJC/2/13

SCOTTISH FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE

1. On 1 April 2013 the eight Scottish fire and rescue services became a single service, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).
2. At the most recent meeting of the National Joint Council members noted that following a request from SFRS the Employers’ Side had agreed that, subject to further discussion on practicalities, SFRS should become a stakeholder body on the Employers’ Side of the NJC. 

3.         We write to advise you that with effect from 1 April 2013 SFRS formally became a stakeholder body on the Employers’ Side of the NJC.

4.         In addition, as a consequence of the changes affecting the fire service in Scotland, the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities is no longer a stakeholder body on the Employers’ Side of the NJC.

5.         The necessary changes to the constitution of the Employers’ Side have been made. The change of arrangements on the Employers’ Side did not require any amendment to the constitution of the NJC.

EMPLOYERS’ SECRETARY

6.         At the last meeting of the NJC members were also asked to note that the position of Employers’ Side Secretary will now be held by Simon Pannell.
