A tragic reminder from the USA at Christmas

As offices were beginning to shut down for the Christmas break we received terrible news from the USA. On 22 December two firefighters were killed at a fire in Chicago. Edward Stringer and Corey Ankum died when a roof collapsed.

Edward Stringer and Corey Ankum were members of the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) our sister trade union in the USA and Canada. I have contacted Harold Schaitberger, General President of the IAFF to pass on condolences on behalf of FBU members.

You can read more about the IAFF here as well as seeing Harold’s seasonal message to IAFF members which includes comments about brothers Stringer and Ankum and the tragedy in Chicago. I know that the thoughts of all FBU members in the UK will be with our sisters and brothers in Chicago at this tragic time.
