FBU members to lobby Merseyside Fire Authority

Striking FBU members will be lobbying the Merseyside Fire and Civil Defence Authority meeting, which is being held at the Merseyside Fire Service Headquarters in Hatton Garden, Liverpool on Thursday 19 July. The meeting is due to start at 13.00 hours and will be discussing the current dispute in Merseyside, which has resulted in FBU members taking strike action.

Les Skarratts, Merseyside FBU Brigade Secretary said: “This meeting is an opportunity for the Fire Authority to end this dispute. All they have to do is to abide by the Fire Service National Disputes Panel’s decisions.”

Andy Gilchrist, FBU General Secretary said: “The seriousness of this dispute should not be underestimated. The Merseyside Fire Authority are clearly jeopardising the Disputes procedure and thereby the Fire Service National Conditions of Service and therefore the National Union will have to seriously consider their response.”
