Every member of the Fire Brigades Union is deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic incident in Warwickshire. Our thoughts are with the families and colleagues of those involved and with all those working within Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.
We shall further inform and update members as soon as it is possible and appropriate to do so.
On Wednesday 23 January John Noble, a Watch Manager at Alloa fire station in Central Scotland, died when his appliance was involved in a collision while on the way to an emergency incident.
The two firefighters injured are making progress in their recovery.
Alan Robertson is still in the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow but is expected to be allowed home to his parent's house near Edinburgh this week. He has had multiple operations and skin grafts and has been able to try and take some steps using the frame he has been given to help him. His right leg, which was very badly injured, is progressing and the doctors have said that they will give him an amber light just now. But he has some way to go before they can give his right leg the green light for the future.
Alan Huntly who received a broken ankle and collar bone has had the plaster removed and is having physiotherapy. He is progressing well.
The other two firefighters involved in the incident, Chris Robb (the driver) and Bryan Bell, have both been back at work almost from day one.
The online book of condolence has now closed but can still be viewed.
Our thoughts are with their families and our colleagues at this time.
Matt Wrack, FBU General Secretary
