Dear Brother/Sister,
FBU UNION LEARNING FUND
RECRUITMENT (ULF Project Support Organiser - Consultancy)
Over the last six years the FBU has successfully promoted and engaged its members in a Lifelong Learning agenda within the union and across the UK Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) funded by the Union Learning Fund (ULF).
The current FBU ULF project is due to finish on the 31st March 2010 when the funding from the ULF 2008 – 2010 has ended. The excellent work of current and previous FBU ULF Regional Co-ordinators has ensured huge progress in introducing the concept of union learning within the FBU and the Executive Council (EC) wish to place on record their thanks and appreciation for the hard work and effort that has made this possible.
Despite an unsteady political and economic climate, a further application for ULF project funding has been approved from April 1st 2010 until March 31st 2011. Dependant on future Government approval this may be extended a further twelve months until March 31st 2012.
The new project will aim to increase the number of ULRs and offer assistance for Regions in putting in place a sustainable education and union learning framework in line with the FBU policy. It will continue to deliver Lifelong Learning opportunities to FBU members and FRS staff in partnership with other Trade Unions, FRS Colleges, Employers and Education Providers.
To comply with the obligations of our successful bid, two ULF Project Support Organisers (PSO) positions are available on a consultancy basis; applications for these posts are therefore invited from FBU Retired or Out of Trade Members.
The Project Support Organisers will be key to achieving the aims of the FBU embedding learning policies and will continue to support our members to benefit from learning opportunities and gain qualifications as well as encourage and support our members, meet learning and skills issues driven by Workforce Development and the Integrated Personal Development System.
There will be a requirement to work and attend meetings in all Regions using their own transport.
The enclosed job description, person specification and job advert should be displayed on the FBU notice board and will be available on the FBU and FBU U-learn websites.
Applicants should clearly indicate how they meet the requirements of the job specification and may provide other relative additional information of support. This will be accepted by email or in writing. Applicants should also provide a contact telephone number, home and email address.
Please note that the closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Friday 12th March 2010.
