Important information on pensions: members must act now

FBU_logo_colFirefighters must act on two key areas if they are to avoid missing out financially, the Fire Brigades Union has said.

Firefighters are given six months to buy back lost service after returning to duty following periods of absence, and with the six-month anniversary of the first strike now having passed, the FBU is encouraging all members to ensure their applications are in soon.

Write to your MP over the fire minister’s inaccurate claims on pensions

OFBU_logo_coln Monday 7 April, Westminster fire minister, Brandon Lewis, told the House of Commons that the Fire Brigades Union had not sought to obtain protection from changes to firefighters’ pensions scheme for members.

This answer was inaccurate and presents a complete misrepresentation of discussions the FBU have had with DCLG and with the minister and his team over many months.

As a result, the FBU is asking all members and our supporters to write to their MP to highlight the minister’s inaccuracies.
